Globe Productions is on a mission to become one of Africa’s leading creative companies, according to CEO Latif Abubakar. Through theatre, large-scale events, talent development, and storytelling, the Ghanaian company is using creativity as a tool for social impact while building a sustainable business with continental ambitions.
“The future of Globe Productions is to become one of Africa’s powerhouses when it comes to events—Africa’s leading event and theatre company,” Abubakar says.
Theatre as a Tool for Development
Unlike traditional entertainment companies, Globe Productions places social impact at the center of its creative work. Its productions are designed not only to entertain audiences but also to spark conversations around critical societal issues.
“We believe strongly that we prefer to do developmental projects,” Abubakar explains. “Our theatres are basically focused on theatre for development.”
The company creates productions that tackle real challenges facing Ghanaian society.
“We write plays on issues that affect society,” he says. “We have produced plays on HIV/AIDS to provide solutions, on illegal mining, on anger management, and many other important social issues.”
For Globe Productions, theatre becomes a platform for education, awareness, and positive change.
Developing Ghana’s Next Generation of Talent
Beyond producing performances, Globe Productions is investing heavily in the future of Ghana’s creative industry by nurturing emerging artists.
“We provide a platform that trains and equips artistic talents with the needed skills and experience to be ready for the market,” Abubakar says. “We do that for free.”
By offering practical training and real-world opportunities, the company is helping young creatives build sustainable careers while strengthening Ghana’s broader creative ecosystem.
A Leader in Events and Creative Experiences
Over the years, Globe Productions has grown into one of Ghana’s largest event management companies, delivering conferences, ceremonies, and international events for both public and private organizations.
“We are actually positioned as one of the biggest event companies in Ghana,” Abubakar says.
The company has organized events for major international institutions including the BBC, the World Bank, and the United Nations, while also creating some of Ghana’s largest business gatherings.
Among its flagship initiatives are the Ghana CEO Awards and the Ghana Business Summit, events that recognize business excellence and bring together leaders from across the country.
Creativity Meets Entrepreneurship
Abubakar describes Globe Productions as much more than a theatre company.
“As a theatre, we are creative entrepreneurs. We are innovators. We think, develop, plan and execute, and we make sure there is a sustainability plan guiding whatever we do.” Latif Abubakar, CEO of Globe Productions
This entrepreneurial mindset has enabled the company to diversify its activities while maintaining a strong focus on long-term impact and commercial sustainability.
Innovating During the Pandemic
One of Globe Productions’ most significant achievements came during the COVID-19 pandemic, when lockdowns forced creative industries around the world to rethink how they engaged audiences.
“One of our major milestones was putting together arguably the first virtual play on COVID-19 in the world during the lockdown,” Abubakar says.
The production attracted approximately 3.5 million views, demonstrating both the adaptability of the company and the power of digital storytelling.
Taking Ghanaian Talent to the World
Looking ahead, Abubakar’s ambition extends far beyond Ghana.
“We dream to export Ghanaian talents across the globe,” he says.
To achieve that goal, Globe Productions is actively building partnerships with international organizations that can help showcase African creativity on the global stage while opening new opportunities for local artists.
Building an Institution for Africa’s Story
Ultimately, Abubakar sees Globe Productions as more than a successful business. His long-term vision is to build an institution that celebrates African identity while creating meaningful economic opportunities.
“I’m building an institution that will promote and tell the African story through theatre,” he says. “That same institution will also be able to create jobs.”
For Abubakar, storytelling is not only about preserving culture—it is also about inspiring development, empowering young creatives, and demonstrating the economic potential of Africa’s creative industries.
As Globe Productions continues to expand its reach, the company is positioning itself as a leading force in African theatre, creative entrepreneurship, and cultural innovation, using storytelling to drive both social impact and business success.
